Visit “Penang Celebrates: Chap Goh Meh” for a culturally-rich experience & stand a chance to win total prizes worth up to RM20,000.
The event happening this Feb 8 (Saturday) is organized by the state government through PETACH in collaboration with Poh Kong and Redoxon®.
This programme will start from 7pm until 10pm, and a grand fireworks display sponsored by Penang Chinese Chamber of Commerce.
In a statement today, Penang State EXCO for Tourism, Arts, Culture and Heritage (PETACH) YB Yeoh Soon Hin said the event is part of the Penang Celebrates series and also marks the Penang tourism year namely Experience Penang Year 2020 “The Diversity of Asia”.
“Therefore, visitors can enjoy not only local culture and games on site and various cultural performances such as dances which include multicultural dances, war drums, and etc.
“The public also has the opportunity to try hands on some traditional handicrafts and craftmanship such as calligraphy, paper cutting and others,” he said.
He said it will be very exciting for the public as there are lucky draw prizes are up for grabs.
“The public just need to scan the QR Code on site and fill up the details in order to stand a chance to win the jewellery sponsored by Poh Kong. You can also go to the Poh Kong booth to play games to win prizes,” he said.
He said visitors can also participate in the tradition of tossing oranges, or try “scooping up” digital oranges at the first-of-its-kind digital lake set up by Redoxon® to win attractive prizes.
In conjunction with “Penang Celebrates: Chap Goh Meh”, Jalan Padang Kota Lama and Jalan Tun Syed Sheh Barakbah will be closed on Feb 8 starting 12.01am to 11.59pm.
The road closure of Jalan Tun Syed Sheh Barakbah spans from the junction of Lebuh Duke to Fort Cornwallis.
Penang State Government EXCO for Tourism, Arts, Culture and Heritage (PETACH) YB Yeoh Soon Hin said while certain amounts of face masks will be distributed on site and hand sanitiser placed at several locations, he also encourages the public to bring their own face mask.
