Pasir Mas MP senseless to ask Kit Siang leave Malaysia: Ramkarpal

MEDIA STATEMENT

The statement by Pasir Mas MP Ahmad Fadhli Shaari that Lim Kit Siang ought to leave the country for purportedly failing to understand the Federal Constitution is laughable and a reminder of the levels of which he and his ilk are.

Ahmad Fadhli would have done well to appreciate that Lim was echoing the views of Anas Zubedy on Zakir Naik and why Zakir should voluntarily leave the country. In fact, Lim was in complete agreement with Zubedy and practically repeated what he said.

I, too, have urged Zakir to be extradited to India in the past for legal reasons.

Are Zubedy and I also on Ahmad Fadhli’s list of those who should leave the country?

Ahmad Fadhli ought to direct his mind to the elephant in the room, namely the problem of Zakir’s presence in Malaysia despite being wanted in India for offences allegedly committed there, including money laundering.

Instead, Ahmad Fadhli chooses to divert attention from the said main issue and resort to childish, baseless attacks on Lim for diplomatically suggesting that Zakir ought to voluntarily leave Malaysia.

There is absolutely no reason for Lim to leave this country. He is a Malaysian citizen who has contributed much in his 50 years of service to this country, unlike Zakir who is not even a citizen and has created enough controversy remaining here despite being wanted in India.

It would be too much to expect Ahmad Fadhli to meaningfully debate whether Zakir should remain in Malaysia or not and as such, it wouldn’t be surprising if such tantrums of his continue in the future.

Hopefully, we hear something sensible from him at some point instead.
