The Bukit Kukus paired road project is divided into three sections and the construction works at the portion financed by the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) is about 75% completed.
Chief Minister Sdr Chow Kon Yeow said the council was looking forward to the completion of that portion next year.
“The other two portions are being undertaken by two private developers – PLB Land Sdn Bhd and Geo Valley Sdn Bhd, as conditions imposed when they submitted their planning permission for their development projects.
“Due to the challenging market condition, PLB may not be able to complete their portion at the same time as the council.
“However, that will not prevent road users from using the MBPP’s road section when it is ready.
“PLB will be building a slip road from the old Paya Terubong road (before reaching Majestic Heights), connecting it to the Bukit Kukus paired road, once the MBPP’s portion is completed.
“Traffic can be diverted to use this new portion of the highway,” Sdr Chow told a press conference in Komtar today.
