Hongkongers are scouting properties in Malaysia, including Penang, in view of the recent unrest in Hong Kong.
Chief Minister Sdr Chow Kon Yeow said while it was still too early to say whether businesses in Hong Kong would be relocated to Penang; the state had seen a rise in interest from Hongkongers with regard to property investment.
“The people from Hong Kong may have some concerns pertaining to their future there (in Hong Kong).
“Meanwhile, Penang has always been the destination for investment, tourism and businesses,” he told a press conference at his office today.
Sdr Chow said that the private sector would jump at the chance should there be any opportunity from Hong Kong.
