Mary, we need you in this trying time: Wanita DAP Chief Chong Eng

Media Statement by DAP National Women’s Chief Chong Eng on Sunday, 12th July 2020:

Please reconsider your decision to quit, Mary Josephine

As the head of DAP women’s wing, I am sad to see the departure of a loyal and committed comrade from the party, especially a female leader.

We join DAP to achieve objectives of the party – a Malaysia for Malaysians.

In this trying time, we hope Mary Josephine not to give up the journey that she has walked this far.

No one knows how long it will take one to reach the finishing point but we are not walking the journey alone.

We hope Mary Josephine can put aside her personal feelings to remain in the party.

Setbacks are part and parcel of the journey to achieve our dreams.

From an opposition party to defeating the two third majority of Barisan Nasional back in 2008 elections and then showing BN the exit as the ruling government in 2018, we have come a long way.

Of course, such feat would not be possible without the many sacrifices, contribution and relentless effort of DAP leaders and members, as well as the collaboration from other parties under the Pakatan Harapan.

Mary Josephine has travelled near and far to campaign for elections and by-elections over the years. She has been considered as one of the best Polling Agent Counting Agent (PACA) trainers in the party and an asset of the party.

We would like to have Mary Josephine as one of our dedicated woman leaders in the party to the icon for aspiring members, especially the women’s wing.

We treasure her contribution to the party over the years.

DAP is like a big family. We may have some unhappiness in some points of time but we do not leave the family for having problem with few of them in the party.

I urge Mary Josephine to look at a bigger picture here and do not let the teething problems drain one’s vision of achieving a Malaysia for Malaysians.

To walk far, we do not walk alone.

Come back Mary Josephine. We need you at this trying time.
