Kami adalah pembayar cukai dan harus diperuntukkan dana termasuk dana perumahan, bagi mereka yang tidak mampu membeli rumah kos rendah.
Saya akan memastikan harga perumahan kos rendah, sederhana rendah dan rumah mampu milik kekal pada RM42,500, RM72,500 dan maksima RM300,000 di bahagian Pulau, di mana beberapa negeri lain sudah menaikkan harga perumahan tersebut.
Saya ingin memberi amaran kepada semua pemaju bahawa mereka tidak boleh paksa pembeli rumah mampu milik untuk membayar kos tambahan untuk kerja pengubahsuaian dan tempat letak kereta tambahan jika mereka tidak mahu.

Federal Government urged to review decision for state governments to build Peoples Housing Projects (PPR).

I would like to warn all developers that they should not force any buyers of affordable housing to absorb extra cost such as renovation and extra car park if they do not want to.
Pulau Pinang utus surat kepada KPKT mohon semak semula polisi PPR terbaru
Kerajaan Negeri Pulau Pinang akan mengutus surat rasmi kepada Menteri Perumahan dan Kerajaan Tempatan, Zuraida Kamaruddin dalam waktu terdekat, berhubung makluman bahawa Kerajaan Persekutuan tidak lagi akan meneruskan Projek Perumahan Rakyat (PPR).
Exco Perumahan, Kerajaan Tempatan dan Perancangan Bandar & Desa, Sdr Jagdeep Singh Deo berkata, surat rasmi tersebut adalah sebagai respons tidak bersetuju Kerajaan Negeri Pulau Pinang terhadap pemakluman terkini Kementerian Perumahan dan Kerajaan Tempatan (KPKT) berhubung polisi perumahan negara.
“Pada 20 Ogos lalu, Ketua Menteri, Y.A.B. Tuan Chow Kon Yeow telah menerima sepucuk surat daripada KPKT yang memaklumkan perkembangan terbaru polisi perumahan negara yang mana dinyatakan bahawa Kerajaan Persekutuan tidak akan meneruskan lagi PPR pada masa hadapan.
“Hal ini kerana, bagi pembinaan (unit-unit PPR) ia menelan kos yang banyak, (namun) saya berpandangan bahawa menjadi tanggungjawab sosial (Kerajaan Persekutuan) kepada rakyat untuk menyediakan unit-unit (PPR) ini.
“Saya khuatir dengan perkembangan terbaru ini, tiada lagi rumah PPR untuk rakyat yang mana sebelum ini kita (Pulau Pinang) sangat mengalu-alukan (pembinaannya) sejak sekian lama,” katanya kepada pemberita sejurus mengadakan tinjauan ke projek penempatan semula penduduk di Pangsapuri Warisan Tanjung dekat sini pagi ini.

Review decision to stop building PPR projects, ministry urged
The Housing and Local Government Ministry should review its decision to stop building the People’s Housing Project (PPR), says Penang Local Government, Housing, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman Sdr Jagdeep Singh Deo.
He said the new development came as a shock to him as Penang has been seeking the Federal Government to assist in building PPR projects in the five districts of the state, starting with a site in Jelutong on the Penang island.
Sdr Jagdeep said Local Government and Housing Minister Zuraida Kamarudin had informed all the chief ministers, including Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, and mentris besar in a letter dated Aug 20, that the Federal Government would not continue building PPR projects as they would incur a high cost.
“This is something new and is of concern to me. In fact, it’s a very big blow to us. We’ve been waiting even before the 14th General Election for PPR projects,” Sdr Jagdeep told reporters when he visited the ongoing Warisan Tanjung housing project at Tanjong Tokong today.
“Penang has the least number of PPR homes among all the states. We’ve only 999 units out of 120,000 units in Malaysia.
“Although I am very close to Zuraida, I don’t agree with this particular move. It is the social obligation of a government to take care of those who cannot even afford a low-cost unit.”
Sdr Jagdeep also said he disagreed with the ministry’s suggestions that the state government build the PPR projects, now rebranded as Program Perumahan Malaysia, with private partnership (under Request For Proposal) and sell them at between RM90,000 and RM300,000 per unit.
