Finance Minister and DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng will be making a 2-day working visit to Stockholm, Sweden at the invitation of Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven
Finance Minister and DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng will be making a 2-day working visit to Stockholm, Sweden at the invitation of Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven and also attend the Progressive Alliance global convention on the 15th and 16th November 2019.
The Progressive Alliance is a 132-member alliance of progressive and social-democratic parties from around the world. This conference in Stockholm will focus on the future of work in the digital and globalisation era, women empowerment and issues surrounding economic sustainability and climate change. There are 18 member parties in government mainly in Europe, with Malaysia, Mongolia and Indonesia are the only 3 parties in Asia that are part of the ruling government.
Both PA and the DAP supports the UN Habitat 17 Sustainable Development Goals to future-proof our children’s better livelihood. In the world where the increase of automation, digitalisation and the rise of Industry 4.0 is affecting some traditional jobs, the transition for the future of work is something that needs serious deliberation. No one should be left behind, and we must work towards a fair and equitable transition.
The issues of sustainable and the importance of combating climate change is ever more urgent, and this conference will be a platform to build alliances, share experiences and forge new strategic thinking towards a more sustainable future. Women empowerment will also be at the forefront as we strive towards a fair society for both genders.
The Progressive Alliance Global Convention is a good platform to exchange ideas as well as build international collaboration towards improving the future of work and jobs for Malaysian and improve our efforts towards greater sustainability. Lim Guan Eng will be speaking on Global Deal for Jobs in a Digital Era on the first day.
As part of this trip, Lim Guan Eng will also hold scheduled meetings with Stefan Löfven (Swedish Prime Minister), Magdalena Andersson (Swedish Finance Minister), Anna Ekström (Swedish Education Minister) Antti Rinne (Prime Minister of Finland), Antonio Costa (Prime Minister of Portugal), Wayne Swan (President of Australia Labor Party).
The DAP delegation includes DAP International Secretary and Deputy Education Minister Teo Nie Ching and DAP Selangor Political Education Director and Assemblyman for Bukit Gasing Rajiv Rishyakaran.
