The proposed Race Relations Act is seen as the best deterrent to prevent further racist remarks from being uttered by irresponsible individuals, said DAP chairman Karpal Singh.
“Solutions have to be found. I hope that the Federal Government will support the move,” he said.
Karpal Singh has called for the Penal Code to be amended in order to provide for the death penalty for child rapists.
The DAP national chairperson said although he had prior to this campaigned for the death penalty to be abolished, the daily occurrences of crimes – rape in particular – against children means “the time has come time for the government to spring into action in the public interest, which demands introduction of measures which are bold and effective”.
DAP National chairman and Bukit Gelugor MP Karpal Singh supports the call by the Penang government for the removal of the state development officer (SDO) Nik Ali Mat Yunus and said that DAP will not hesitate to bring him to court over his conduct.

否则，他将在2009年结束前绕过对他下战书的首相署部长纳兹里，直接约见总检察长说服对方发出“授权书”。
“站在公共利益的立场上，总检查长应给我发出授权书。他本身可做决定，何况掌管法律事务的部长纳兹里已点头同意。”

The renowned lawyer and politician also claimed that the government has insulted the King for failing to act against Lingam despite a ‘royal’ commission of inquiry recommending that it does.
Karpal also pointed out that it has been a month since he accepted the challenge by de facto law minister Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz to prosecute Lingam.

Bukit Gelugor MP Karpal Singh said that if the interrogation was allowed, it would be in contempt of a High Court judgment.
Karpal Singh was referring to the High Court landmark ruling on Thursday that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission cannot interrogate witnesses beyond office hours.
