Let Penang Be A Beacon Of Hope For Merdeka, Democracy, Integrity, Public Morality And A People”s Government As Well As A Symbol Of National Unity Who Live Together In Harmony And Mutual Respect.
As we celebrate our 53 Merdeka, the country appears more divided than ever by racial, religious and even personal hatred. Fomenting racial and religious intolerance and hatred is now the rule rather than the exception.
The biggest challenge is whether Malaysians can rise above the language of violence used by extremists and fulfil our destiny of Merdeka 53 years ago of a shared society belonging to all and promising prosperity to everyone. Penang is under constant siege and attack by extremists and political foes from BN and UMNO who use lies to create tension and division.

Utusan Malaysia should withdraw and apologise for cheating Malaysians with their false reports of a big civil war in Malaysia bigger than the 1969 May 13 racial riots. This threat of a bigger war that May 13 was in a special column by Penolong Ketua Pengarang I of Kumpulan Utusan Malaysia, Datuk Zaini Hassan , entitled “Benar ‘perang besar’ boleh berlaku di Malaysia”.
No proof had been offered of who was pushing for a new constitution or what were its contents. Utusan only referred to Perak Mufti Tan Sri Harussani Zakaria’s claim that three copies of the “new” Federal Constitution were given to him during a ceramah in Alor Setar.

DAP Leaders Must Be Careful Not To Fall Into BN’s Trap Of Using The UMNO-MCA “Sandiwara” Quarrel As An Excuse To Apply The ISA Powers Of Detention Without Trial As Happened During Operasi Lallang In 1987.
DAP leaders must be careful not to fall into BN’s trap of using the UMNO-MCA “sandiwara” quarrel as an excuse to exercise the Internal Security Act(ISA) powers of detention without trial. This “sandiwara” quarrel is a chilling reprise of the events during 1987 when then Deputy President Datuk Lee Kim Sai had a media war with then UMNO Youth President Datuk Najib Tun Razak.

MCA, UMNO or even Perkasa would have no need to quarrel over the 30% bumi corporate equity requirement if a Royal Commission of Inquiry is set up to determine how RM 52 billion of shares meant for Malay/Bumis were hijacked by the few BN leaders. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had admitted that of the RM 54 billion in bumi shares given out since the New Economic Policy(NEP) was launched in 1970, only RM 2 billion remained in bumi hands.

Education Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said that his ministry in looking into making sex education a subject in school. While I take his words in good faith, I think the Education Ministry has taken far too long to study the issue without any concrete resolutions.
The current state of escalating sexual crimes including child rape cases warrant immediate attention. I believe that rape prevention lessons must be taught to school children including those in the kindergarten. And the seriousness of the issue demands the urgency of now, the Education Ministry cannot afford to idle in the so-called “study mode” but must act now.
