Karpal lodges report against English daily over sex video claims
PETALING JAYA: DAP chairman Karpal Singh lodged a police report against an English daily (not The Star) which published an article claiming he had distributed sex videos of a former Dewan Rakyat deputy speaker.
Karpal said the article, published in the daily on June 14 titled Karpal’s political chicanery exposed again, was an “unadulterated lie”.
“I have been accused of the distribution of pornographic material, which is a serious offence under the law.
“I will give the writer 14 days to show proof that I had actually distributed the sex videos, if not I will send him a legal notice and will see him in court,” he said after lodging a police report at the Tun H.S. Lee police station at 12.30pm yesterday.
Karpal added that if the writer was not able to prove the allegations made in the article, he would seek a formal apology and compensation for the defaming article.
Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Zulkarnain Abdul Rahman confirmed the report was lodged, adding that the matter was under investigation.
