Penang Chief Minister YAB Lim Guan Eng will be visiting South Korea and Hong Kong from 1st – 3rd February 2010.

While in South Korea, the Chief Minister will meet South Korean leading LED (LightEmitting Diode) companies who are keen to invest in Penang . South Korea is being earmarked as one of the key potential major investors in Penang in the areas of business, tourism, ICT and manufacturing.

The Chief Minister will then be visiting Hong Kong. The delegation will be paying a courtesy call to the Hong Kong Tourism Development Council (HKTDC) and attend an International Education Fair. At this Fair, Lim will meet with key leaders of the education sector to seek new areas of co-operation and investment, especially in the Penang State Government’s proposed 200 acre Education Hub in Balik Pulau to attract both International Schools and Universities branch campuses.

The visit to South Korea and Hong Kong is part of YAB Lim Guan Eng’s efforts strengthen existing business and industry ties between Penang , South Korea and Hong Kong after face of turbulent economic outlook. Lim is accompanied by Dato’ Lee Kah Choon, Executive Chairman of InvestPenang, Jeffrey Chew – Special Investment Officer to the Chief Minister and Azleen Suhaimi – Account Executive of InvestPenang.
