Online Poll on Kampung Buah Pala’s Issue
Media Statement by YB Ng Wei Aik, Publicity Secretary of DAP Penang on 14th of July, 2009 (Tuesday) in Georgetown, Penang:
DAP Penang has launched a weekly online poll campaign on the Kampung Buah Pala issue beginning today.
The initiative is to survey and to espouse the views of the people regarding the issues related to Kampung Buah Pala.
This democratic approach is a better indicator of the support of the people towards the practices of Penang State Government in solving the Kampung Buah Pala issue.
For this week, the first poll question is as below:

The poll question is misleading!
What basis you are saying that State gov’t need to pay RM 100 million to acquire the land?
What has the state government done on the fraud involved in the land transcation besides just lodging police report? Why not use section 340 of land code to freeze the land?
Why the state government affraid of the developer? Is the state government pro-people or pro-developer?
This poll is definitely not going to help to solve the issue and the people’s land is continuing to be grab by GREEDY developers!
sf, i think the gov is bond to some contract breaching if need to acquire the land… not about affraid or what…
anyhow, I think we need more statement on “why” it is RM100million… who sign that?
Before making any decisions, I do have some questions that need clarifications (with actual supporting proof would be great):
1. Why the residents did not make noise back then? If they did, what made them stop, thus accepting the decision by State Government (back then)?
2. Where did Koperasi get the money to purchase the land?
3. Why was the land sold in such cheaper price (50% less?), when common trend/expectation would see increase of land price?
Anyway, my sincere input is that our dear CM should go ahead to meet the residents even if they bring along lawyers for the talk. Do respect the fact they would also like to have legal advisors around (for protection etc.?)…
1) if the resident had to strata title on hand…. or any proven lesen on hand…. then transaction of the government to “the other” is consider illegal.
2) so the recent state government can stop the whole project.
3) can someone is the state government had a press conference.. show more detail…
to YB LIM, sometime dont hide hide then only show…. is irritating…
just show out the detail…. and let the public decide…. if cant…, then advise the villager go for court to seat the whole project.
the other thing had to consider… how many of them had take the “wang pampasan”?????? sometime people are greeding… take already then denied they had…

This is exactly the reason why it is time for us malaysians regardless of any race and religions and also *hopefully* political parties to sit down and really think…do we want to contnue like this??the people’s funds are being misused.screw the previous incompetant government for bringing this problem to the current state gov.it is not fair to clean other people’s shit.
yet, penang cm has shown us that he is walking the path that he preaches.he can just blame it on the previous state gov and just dont care about the people there like the way previous gov did.
Developers are business entities.we cant expect them to leave those lands alone as it is bought by using their money.we cant expect them to write off that huge amount of money.it is not fair for them.
at the same time,kg pala residents has their own issues.
100million is a very huge amount.the federal gov who rule the island and probably scam those people should shoulder part of the responsibilities that arises due to their incompetence.
about the lawyer issue,it is not a problem as the penang cm can bring his legal adviser too.All parties need to calm down and solve the matter by using logic.
To CM ,
from my point of view on bringing the lawyer , i think u should as a citizen we have the rights to protect ourselves and bring in someone who has deep knowledge on law
instead of delaying it , and only speciafically to meet the residents why not let the residents bring in the lawyers and to let the residents have the sense of secure? , settle it quick , show the people that the penang gov is concern about the rakyat
maybe i am too naive it too think of this , why not the penang gov stop pointing the finger back to the previous gov instead u stand firm and solve the problems find the best solution , i think the rakyat know how ‘good’ the state government towards the people , so u as the new admistratator the people is having high hopes on u…
IMHO, CM should meet the people with or without the lawyers; but only people and CM do the talking. Silence the lawyers. I believe we all know that there are not much differences between lawyers and greedy land developers. They stand to gain no matter who wins. Please settle the issue ASAP so we do not stand to lose more to the gain of these aforementioned people. The longer it is delayed the more we all stand to lose. Thank you.
1. If you have squatted on a land for tens or hundreds of years, then just move out when you are compensated to leave by the owner.
2. If there is anything heritage; just like if I want my grandfather’s house to be “heritage”, damn it, I shall make sure I am the owner by buying it in the 1st place or if it is in my name, didn’t sell in the 1st place.
3. Whatever BN sold legal or illegally, let them answer to the law. No point harping, pointing, crying over spilled milk.
4. DAP government now just need to show some good management skills to close the issue once and for all. Everything tangible is just all about money. Solving it fast will give you political mileage.
Developing of state land is important and we can’t allow 28 families to benefit more than what the law entitle them. If there is any short coming it is not the fault of the current state government.
Anyway all government must be firm on this kind of issue and never to set any preceding that open to problema in future development of state land.
Even if you lost some vote, ultimately a strong and rightious government win the day.

If one’s grandfather or great grandfather occupied the land for the last 100 years, it does not mean one owns the land. Its still leased to you, so if the owner sold off this land then you have to get out or move out. As simple as that. I do sympatise with the residents of Kampung Buah Pala but the law is the law. Luckily, you are being offered compensation to move out, if not you still have to move out, legally that is. The Penang state Govt. is doing all it can, don’t DEMAND, just accept the best that our CM is offering(A Settlement). Please understand that the State Govt. cannot bow down to all these demands. Thank you.

July 15, 2009 at 12:07 amI vote No to let Penang Government purchase this land is because this is a BN shit, why the Pakatan Rakyat need to clear for them, first of all i think we need to really understand with the peoples from Kg.Buah Pala what actuallt they need & request, then maybe the current government need to help them settles all the enquiry as long as reasonable. MOstly its also because we must always bare in mind as peoples of malaysia we cannot block any development to the states, but also the compensation to them must be reasonables, if they agree upon the $$$ compensate to them, or exchaneg of land in other place such as in Seberang Prai other place that is available.
Its a good move to report to MACC, but hopefully this MACC is not a puppet to the BN. I gratefully express my sadness to the peoples of Kg.Buah Pala, but when this thing happen we have to find the roots of it problem then solved it, rather than rushing the current government, as we understand the whole, i think we should get the culprit from previous administrator to explain and get the things striaght… keep up your good work Pakatan Rakyat

Did you ever see MCA or Gerakan complaint anything about UMNO, NO right, because i think they are washing & pampering them, not like DAP, PKR & PAS they are fighthing internally bcaues for the peoples betterment, not all PR Adun or MP are good and it same also not all BN Adun & MP are good, but at least in PR they still pin point, yes we all know pin point like this is not a gud culture, but this is the true & the fact, if evry one wanted to be gud guy, later it will be like BN so whats the point.

However, the stupid ex Gerakan Penang Government must be responsible for it. But all these coward people just hide themselves under the sarung!
